300px-Whatever_you_think-210x126I’m the mother of ten children and two step children of whom I raised. I have always loved to read and started reading Big books when I was seven. When I was a teenager I would lay in ours upstairs hall at night  for light and read till two in the morning. I still do that occasionally when the book is to good to put down. I like all kinds of books. I guess it depends on the mood I’m in to what books I read. Books are a window to the soul of man. I hope to teach my children and others to LOVE books the way I do. Drop me a line. kateswebsites2@gmail.com

When I go to the library and look for books, I think its sad when I can’t find my favorite books because their too old. I loved them and want to read other books by the same author. There are good books written now, but you have to wade through a lot of trash to find them. I think its sad that the younger generation are not reading and loving the books I did because their not on the library shelves. I love to go to stores with old books. I think of it as being in heaven.

have you ever thought about how it would have been if America had broken into two nations?  Orson Scott Card wrote a series of books called the Alvin maker series about a different kind of America. After I read them I loved America more then ever. My daughter is reading another book by Orson Scott Card, Enders Game. This is a very thought provoking book.

I remember as a little girl laying under a quilt my mother was tying and listening to my older sister read. I loved the pictures her words would bring inside my head. We loved to go on family picnics because after all the picnic fun my sister would sit down on a blanket and read to us. That was always my favorite part. To this day I would much rather read a good book than watch a movie.

When I was young, my Mom was invited to the home of a family friend who’s father had past away. He had the most amazing library. The family told my mother she could take anything she would like have. So she brought home hard back first additions of the writings of Sir A Conan Doyle, Peter B Kyne, Edgar Rice Burroughs and others. They were full series of these Author’s writings. My mother kept them on a high bookshelf. I would climb on a chair to reach them. I remember climbing up and taking down Tarzan of the Apes. I held it in my hands and looked at the pictures. Then I read the book and fell in love with the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs. I read the whole Tarzan series and many other books he wrote. My sister read us Peter B Kyne books about Cappy Ricks the sea Captain. We had many fun hours listening to her read. My love of great books started early in my live.

I’m  excited for school to be out. My children and I will have time to read uninterrupted. Yes!   I’ve been putting off reading some book my daughter has been reading the don’t appeal to me, but I guess I’ll have to read them over the summer. When I first started reading the Eragon series I didn’t think I would like them but once I got started I had to read all of them. That happens to me all the time. 🙂  Happy Reading

Just finished listening to another book by Sarah M. Eden. I was crying like a baby by the end of it. The story really touched my heart. Books on tape are really great.

I’ve had a busy summer and fall. What with children getting married and baby’s being born in our family its been a busy year. I haven’t had time to write any book reviews, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been reading any good books, I have. I’m on to some new authors that I’m exited about. I’ll have some new book reviews written soon.

Aug.3,2014 out that

I haven’t  been able to get on my website for awhile I was very frustrated. Then the company I was with disappeared and my website with it. Needless to say I was very upset, losing all the content I had worked so hard on. I finally found some one who had a backup disc of my website and was nice enough to put it back on. I’m back in business YES!  Be prepared for some new content soon.

Wow do you know what not having enough sleep does to my brain? I can’t think this morning., but I was thinking about how it was 9/11 in America yesterday. I thought about where I was and where my children were on that day. My brother was an airline Steward with United he was ready to take off on a flight that day when they were grounded and had to sit on the runway for hours. My brother knew some of the flight attendants that died, he had been on flights with them before. Emotionally it was very hard on him. He got into another line of work after that. It was how people pulled together after it happened that was wonderful to see. I wrote a poem about how I felt on the first Anniversary of 9/11. If you would like to read it look at Short Stories & Poetry.

Sept. 17, 2014

There’s just not enough time to read all the books I want to read. I went to the library on Mon and picked up three books to read. I forgot I already have three to read and I’m a busy Mom. 🙂

Dec.2014

Its the last three days of 2014. I can hardly believe its a new year, this one went by so fast. My children are growing up and doing new things in their lives and things change when that happens. Its kind of sad when that happens but exciting too. A new phase of life. I have a new website, katescorner-review.com that has a lot of different things about life and how it looks to me, go check it out.

Dec. 2015

Its December again and I haven’t written a lot this year. I let other things get in the way of writing. I’ve set a goal to not let that happen in the new year. I’m going to write a little each day and make it a great year for writing. I want to succeed and make a career in writing. I woke up this morning from a dream that reminded me what we read shapes our thinking. When we read uplifting things we feel happier and more successful in our lives. When we read trash, it brings us down and we lose our positive feelings about life. I’ve read books that my Mom wouldn’t approve of but if they made me feel bad inside I didn’t finish them. I need to feel uplifted in my life to get though the tough things in life. Good books help me do that.

Feb. 23,2017

Wow another year gone by so quickly. I’ve gotten my children’s book published, Mama Will You Still Love Me. I’m so happy to see it in print.
