Peter and a handful of other orphan boys are taken from St Norberts home for wayward boys and loaded onto a ship the Never Land sailing to a far off place. With them goes a box by mistake, with something powerful and mysterious inside.
Mack pointed to a corner of the warehouse where a filthy canvas was draped over a bulky object. The two men trudged over. Mack grabbed a corner of the canvas and pulled it off, revealing a common-looking trunk made of rough wood but held shut by a thick chain and secured by two-no, three padlocks. Alf studied the truck, frowning. “Ain’t this the trunk them soldiers brought in this morning?”he asked. “It looks like it, ” said Mack “But is ain’t. There was two trunks  come together. The black one got loaded onto the Wasp by them soldiers. Heavy as lead it was. Then Slank pulls me aside and say she wants us, real careful- like, to put this one on board the Never Land. He says tie the canvas tight round it and walk it up the main gangway like it belonged to one of the travelers. He says if we do this right there’s two bob more in our pay. “Apiece?”said Alf  “Apiece,” said Mack.

Molly is on the ship, the daughter of an ambassador on her way to Rundoon to be with her father. Molly’s Father is suppose to have taken the box on his the ship the Wasp. When Molly sees the box she knows what’s in the box and enlists Peter and his friends to help protect it.  First mate Slank  really runs the ship and would really like to be the Captain. Captain Pembridge  is only a figure head .

When you throw in the ferocious pirate Black Stache, the scene is set for a swash buckling adventure. This is a delightful telling of how Peter Pan came to be. Its imaginative and enjoyable. Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson have written some sequels to Peter and the Starcatchers as well.

Peter and the Starcatchers made its debut as a play this summer/fall of 2013. I took my children when our school went to see it on a field trip. It was amazing how the play came alive with a rope the actors and a few props. The music helped too. We all really enjoyed it.  Its really fun to see entertainment when you have to use your imagination. It was the best play I’ve seen for awhile. If you get a chance go see it
